WINFAX PRO

Each time I attempt to open Winfax pro, it tells me that it is in use by another computer???? I have no network. I can't figure how to solve this error. I have NO macros for use with WORD.

I  like the program and would gladly reinstall it, if it would solve the problem.

Uninstall it and reinstall.

Make sure you are logged on as local admin

I've seen this before...was a bad modem. Try disabling the modem(s) in device manager, reboot, try using Winfax again, you should be prompted that there are no modems, Ok out, close Winfax, enable modem, reboot again, try using Winfax again, you should be prompted with winfax setup modem wizard. If still doesn't work, try a different modem.

plokkinis, your solution failed to work. As for replacing a perfectly sound modem make no sense.

I will attemtp to unistall Winfax and reinstall it. I was assuming it something more technical then simply corrupt software...

Very true. I'd still go with the disabling/rebooting/enabling modem before uninstalling/reinstalling winfax. It's more likely reinstalling Winfax will work over disabling/enabling the modem in device manager, but disabling/enabling the modem will take a tenth of the time it will take to uninstall/reinstall winfax and there's a small chance it was a modem driver in which case this quick test would rule it out. Keep us posted!

i tried your method without success.

I finally opened the install .EXE and ran the install from it. That seemed at the moment to resolve issue,

It appears to be opening correctly and all of the recent faxes are intact. I will try later to send a fax and see if its operating correctly.

The program is working normally once again since I ran the Install.exe from WITHIN the Program files.
