Browse All TopicsI have a bizarre problem that may be dns related.
* I have one Xoom ADSL 6 wireless router/modem, connected to that 2 access points.
* The printer is hard wired into the network
* I have 4 comptuers 2 macs, 2 pcs, when I run the HP utility on each computer, none of the pcs find the printer on the network
* I have confirmed that all computers are using a DNS server that is the DSL router
* I can ping the IP address of the printer with no packet loss
* I can run angry ip scanner and find the printer
* I can connect via web browser directly to the printers web address, and manage settings etc
* I have confirmed the printer is getting an IP. I have tried via wireless and hard wire and same results
* I have tried both using the driver software, and the HP install network printer wizard, neither app will see the printer
* In order to get working I had to "RIG IT UP" by connecting the printer to each laptop via USB, and then manually add a HP TCPIP port pointing to the now static IP I set for the printer
* I have tried the printer both DHCP and static same results
* YET even though I can ping, and web access the printer by IP none of the install programs will find the printer on the network
I don't know if this is something with the printer, DNS or what
