Automatic name changed in network folder

I'll try to describe the issue in laymen terms as possible.

Basically the name of the subfolders has automatically changed.

Main folder is called 2009.
The subfolders are named by month of 2009 for example...
October 2009, November 2009, December 2009, etc...

Now the folder have automatically changed to 2009-09, 2009-10, 2009-10 etc....

This happened yesterday during the day. The users who had files open from the subfolders will not save as you already know because it could not locate the existing folder. The users just have to rename the file to save their work.

I don't know how the names of the subfolders automatically changed. I could not duplicate the issue. Any help would be appreciated.
