X.25 & Error Detection

There is no error detection mechanism (frame check sequence) in X.25. Isnt this needed to assure that all the packets are delivered properly?

?? what is LAPB doing then in X.25?

One of the features of X.25 is: It has extensive flow and error control at the data & the network layer. It's so extensive, this has become a deficit of the protocol.

Flow & error control at both layers create a large overhead and slows down transmissions in X.25 and caused it's gradual decline in popularity.
