The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Trust realtionship between the domain and worstaion in Windows 7

We are trying out Windows 7 Pro on one workstation and I'm having issues.  All which seem to be coming from a trust realtionship error between the workstation and the Domain Controller.  The DC is a server 2000 machine.  First issue is that some software we install it will not register any dll's or ocx's.  Secondly, while it appears we are on the network and have internet access, mapped drive access on the network, the local C drive will not let us save, edit etc.  Even logging on as a local admin to the machine it locks us out of making changes to the C drive.

One thing I did do was to check the security on different files and folders.  On the files and folders it has the user name/users but that isn't an option under the "manage user accounts".  On some files (.txt's for example) I can give that user full control and can save/edit.  When I try to give that user full control over a folder it gives me errors.  It acts like it is going to let me do it, but then starts spitting out "can't change permissions" or something similar.

For whatever reason, it appears to me that the permissions aren't getting loaded or transfering to the local machine from the domain controller...from what I can guess, and at this point thats all I'm doing.
