Local Intranet

I need some advice on setting up an intranet to run a .NET application. 5 Windows 7 Pro workstations and one XP Pro WS. No server OS. Can someone point me at a kb article and maybe a few pitfalls to avoid.

Most ISP's provide some amount of webspace.  Depending on the size and desired functionality, you may want to consider a private website instead of an intranet siite.

What would be the benefits of internet over intranet?

What are your exact goals and intended audience with the application? That would better determine how you should proceed.

But regardless, with an application server, the normal rules of servers apply... leaving a minimal number of ports open, keeping as few services running as possible, maintain appropriate permissions, avoid telnet, etc.
