Replacing Netware 5.0 with OES Linux

Having read through the threads on here and digested the 'OES Coexistenc
and Migration Guide'. I have come to the following conclusion and would
appreciate the forum readers input please, where we need to setup a OES
Linux environment to replace Netware 5.0.

1] Our Netware servers are currently running on version 5.0.  Some are
patched to SP6a and some aren't.  They are also running different versions
of DS.  To upgrade these servers to a standard of, ds 7.62c with SP6a would
require a weekend visit to each of our 20 branches.
2] We would then need to setup a Netware 5.1 server with eDirectory 8.7,
Certificate Authority, Service Location Protocol, Certificate server? and a
security domain key.  Licenses and software install would need purchasing.
3] Using Deployment and Consolidation/Migration wizard, introduce a OES
Linux server.  The server would replace each of the existing 20 servers and
would cover a hardware swap out.  This would be a weekend job.

OR

We could setup a OES Linux box in it's own tree, and then migrate the NDS
objects from the Netware 5.0 servers without performing step 1 above (that
is, leaving everything as it is in our Netware 5 environment).  This would
allow us to run the 2 trees concurrently as we swap the servers out.

However, how do we migrate the objects (includes printers and trustee
rights) over to OES Linux?

The above question is a stumbling block for me, I don't know how we could
move the objects over manually.

Your suggestions and any advise would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Not in the same tree, unless you immediately move the organizational CA and Master of [Root] to the OES server...  There are differences in schema between NDS8 and eDirectory 8.7x and major differences in PKIS and NLS (which relies on PKIS) between NW5.0 and OES.

They can coexist on the same LAN in a separate tree, though, which would aid in migration.  I don't know if you can merge a 5.0 NDS8 tree into an OES eDir8.7 tree, but that may be an option rather than using the consolidation tool, if it works.
