The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Seagate 500 GB random connection sata2

Attempting a data recovery on a Seagate ST3500620as  500 gb sata drive. P/N 9bx144-621
Firmware HP24   Date Code  09217  Site Code TK

It shows up in the bios in 3 different mach, will not show up with any of the data recovery software i have tried on it. It did show up for about 30 seconds or so when I was holding it at a weird angle but then I took a breath and it went away. I put a hard drive fan on it thinking that it was getting too warm but it did not help. I have a camera tripod that i could try to use to keep it in the same position but not sure how to mount it to the base. Has anyone ever had this happen. It seems like there may be some heat issues based on the drive controller. See pic

There is about 2 months worth of pictures on it he had the other backed up but was manually starting the backup and had forgotten to do it. I plan to set him up on Karenware replicator. He also plans to get a 2nd ext drive.

I have already suggested Drive Savers but @ $500-1000 the data is not that critical. He does Ariel photography. He only has 1 cf card I may be able to get a few off it but he already has about another 400 on it already. It is under warranty and I already have the new drive and it works fine but they (HP) wants the old one back in 3 days. (How easy are they to get ext)

TIA.
Mike
