The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Help needed after BES server restore

Asked by atak2983 in Blackberry Operating System, Disaster Recovery

Tags: BES server google apps

We are having a pretty nasty problem following a bad (hardware) crash we experienced on one of our servers that was hosting a Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) + BB Google app connector

Basically we had to restore the whole server from a recent (2 days old) backup (we do full images of all our severs over the WE). Restore went smoothly and the server seems to work just fine but the BB devices don't get any incoming mails.

From the BB manager console the devices seem online (the "last connected" timestamp is regularly updated) but there is no INCOMING mail.

Interestingly enough users can SEND from the device but do not RECEIVE. Contacts are also sync-ing ok... Futhermore I can send admin e-mails to the handheld.

I have tried to delete one user, wipe the handheld and do an enterprise activation but it doesn't work (the device stays in "initializing" mode. I get a whole bunch of network@xxx.etp.eu.blackberry.net in the mailbox. Clearly these should be delivered to the device but are not, hence the stall in the activation process,

It would seem that the incoming mail flow has somehow been interrupted between the BES and google mail, but only for incoming mail (obviously mails can still be read through web interface or imap). So it's not and authentication problem... but what else could I do ?!

Very puzzling...

Any idea / help would be most welcome !

Regards
