Hello Experts,
I'm working in Sharepoint 3.0, specifically creating a survey that serves as an end of course critique for our organization.
I'm trying to set up alerts for different users to notify them that a survey has been completed and needs their attention. It is critical that the survey is only accessible to these certain users and the administrator (me).
I'm using the default permissions set at the site level, and have created one group, called Survey Controllers. They have full control, as they are the survey editors and need the alerts.
Because of the confidential nature of the survey, I've set the read and edit permissions located in Advanced settings of the survey to "read only their own" and "edit only their own". Now, of course, I'm getting the message:
"You cannot create alerts for lists for which users can only read their own items."
I understand why this is, but I need some way to get around it. I changed the edit and read permissions and I can indeed push the alerts, but due to the security concerns surrounding these surveys, we cannot allow any other user to view another user's survey.
Does anyone know a workaround for this? I've got Sharepoint Designer, and I've tried to get a workflow to initiate, but I must be doing something wrong, as I've not been able to even get it to start, even with the relaxed security.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
