We have a fully meshed MPLS network across most major cities in Canada. Our head office has 100mbps (fiber) and our branch offices have 10mbps over fiber. Head office is in Calgary and our users in Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal are very unhappy with performance. Previously we had an ATM network with 10 meg circuits everywhere and nobody complained.
We have performed a test using jperf where we plugged PCs into the Calgary and Toronto telco premise switches - thereby isolating all other equipment and removing our devices from any possible interference. We got 7.5 mbps from Toronto to Calgary but the other direction we can only get 1 mbps. Based on this we opened a ticket with our provider and they have told us there is nothing wrong.
Is there a better test we can do? Are there other more accurate tools we can use to prove our case to our provider?
