How to tell if network connection are dropping from client to server

Asked by THAFUSE in Network Analysis Software, Windows Networking, Windows 2003 Server

Question:

I have a 2 computerd at a  2 remote sites  that has client software install. It send new data to the server at the main campus and pulls existing data. Now when the client is set to peer to peer it gives a no responsing error message in task manager or simply just fails to get information from server. The software has been buggy in my opinion (Mutiple bug fixes from vendor) but they're stating its  timing out due to our network before getting to the server. I'm looking for help on how to use network monitor to  figure out if something is wrong with the client and if its losing packets coming back to the server. The problem is,  I've never used network monitor before outside of school lab and need instruction on what  filters to set and how to determine what the problem is. BTW, the remote sites are 10 meg circuits... Server is Win 2003, clients Xp Pro Sp2.

Thanks
