With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Feedback of the Community

Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. Server NIC receiving massive amounts of internal data from unknown source

One of my servers seems to be receiving a huge amount on incoming traffic.  As a result it is slower to access and the nightly backup is taking a long time to complete.  I noticed the the LED on the NIC cards are constantly blinking furiously and looking at the LAN activity the received bytes are at 21 billion since last reboot and sent is only around 2 billion.  Network switch is blinking excessively also on several ports.

How can I analyze what is happening here, the CPU activity looks normally there just seems to be a lot of network traffic.  Other than disconnecting cables from the network is there any tools I can use to find out where all this traffic is coming from and if so can you point me in the right direction as to how to find this out as I am not a networking expert - clearly.

Some additional info:  Traffic seems to be internal as DSL modem is not blinking frantically.  The server has two NICs in a teamed mode - could this be malfunctioning?
