port teaming on cisco switches

is it possible to do port teaming on cisco switches. The idea is to use two ports of a 10/100 cisco switch to link a 1000Mbps cisco switch by using port teaming. This because the 10/100 switch does not have an uplink port

You can use port teaming (etherchannel) but the ports on both sides must be similar.

i.e all 10/100 or all GigE

So bundle from 2 to 8 10/100s to the upstream switch with another 2 to 8 10/100s

Hi harbor235,

thanks for your response. Could you please direct me to a cisco documentation where I can get more information about port teaming. I want to know the benefits interms of  --speed of the uplink --load balancing ---if there is need for a soft configuration etc.

Or if u could shed more light on these points that will be great,

sorry I have to clarify one more thing.

Is it possible to set a few ports on the gig switch to 100mbps and create an ether channel between a gig switch and a fastethernet switch like 2950s
