Configuring NIC teams / port groups on a Cisco Catalyst 2960

Asked by lunanat in Network Design & Methodology, Network Switches & Hubs

I have some new servers, which have NICs in them capable of load balancing... unfortunately, I am fairly new to this topic.  I've read through the documentation, however I seem to be running into problems.

Assuming I am starting from a default configuration, and that my group is on interfaces gigE 0/9 - 12, what steps would I need to take to cause the ports to load balance?

Right now I have all 4 hooked up and my syslog is getting dozens of errors that the mac address is switching between those ports quite rapidly.. which makes sense if one is configured for load balancing and the other is not.

The end goal is to get 4gbps (theoretical limit, of course) of speed between the switch and the server.Start Free Trial
