I have a very small Architectural Rendering (Visualization) company (with animations coming soon), and we are only two people on the office (the other one is my brother), But we are planning on hiring a couple more people.
This has an issue that i am concerned, which is the question: "How can i easily avoid this new employees to copy or take away files from our office computers?" (i am hoping for a non-expensive solution, just configuration..., or in the case is not possible, other solutions...) We use Windows XP Pro SP2, and probably XP 64 in a near future. (what about Vista? or Windows Server?)
This is because for years i have been making my own unique textures, i have bought a lot of 3dmodels, and i have a very good 3d library that has cost me a lot of time and money. Also the 3d files have a lot of important info. So I dont want people that i hire to be able to copy all my libraries or files and then after 3 months or a year quit, and take all that valuable info to start their own business...
A important detail is that they do have to have access in the office network for the files on the texture and 3d models libraries, to build the projects... (Right now i hire one person to make the building 3dmodel from his house, and then i finish it with the textures, furniture, lighting and post production) But know i need them to do all this things...)
This are the possible ways that i can think of someone "stealing" (for lack of a better word..) this files from our computers, and if possible can you tell me if all of them can be prevented:
- External Harddrive
- USB ports with a USB key
- Internal CD or DVD writer (or do i just have to eliminate the drive)
- External CD or DVD Writer
- Ipod or similar
- by Mail
- by MSN Messenger or similar
- uploading it by internet somehow...
I dont want to be a Tyrant, so i would like them to have access to internet for their personal stuff, email, etc...even messenger (maybe..)
Please guide me trough this problem, that is delaying the growth of my company.
