Question

SSID,VLAN question

Asked by: martyboy

Hi experts!

We are close to buy a cisco 526 lan controller at one of our offices.  We have a ASA5505 ( sec + bundle ) at that office. I want to have 2 different SSIDs and i will use 2 APs. I understand that i must have one vlan/SSID. I am gonna connect the WLC and the APs directly to the cisco ASA.  One SSID will be for guest access and the other for LAN.  How should i configure this?  My idea was to create trunk ports on the ASA so that the AP´s have connection to both VLANs. is that correct or am i all wrong here?

If someone could give me a good explanation how to configure this i would be a very happy man.

Marty

Yes, you need to trunk between the asa and the AP's.
Vlan 1 and vlan 2, and I think even vlan 3 are setup by default on the ASA.
vlan 1 is inside
vlan 2 is outside
and vlan 3 is dmz (use this for Guest wireless)

Hi,

I created another vlan named guestacces the dmz is occupied atm, i guess that shouldnt create any problems.

Ok, so do you exactly what to do on the asa, i am not really sure.  I switched one interface on the asa to trunk and typed the 2 vlan ID´s there , vlan 1 and vlan 13( since the same AP holds the guest and LAN SSID i assume i need to do this )

Am i completly out of order? =)

Thx for the help btw
