The two switch rule?

Asked by holcomb_frank in Network Design & Methodology, Network Switches & Hubs, Networking Cables

Tags: network topology/wiring

We are looking at doing additional wiring in our facility. It's a very large building and we easily exceed 300 feet from our main network point/server room. We now switches can be used to extend the network and work as repeaters. We have had vendors mention something about a max of two switches from the main point.. "the two switch rule" .....is this truely a concern?
