Hi Suriyawong,
First of all thank you for your reply. I'm not familiar with QoS but I'll research it and give it a shot. I'll post back as soon as I try it.

Browse All TopicsHi all,
Here is my problem, the company I work for has two locations. Location A is the main store where our windows 2003 server is located. Location B is our warehouse. The server at location A hosts our inventory program. We have a T1 line between location A & B.
When we access the server across the T1 line to view inventory info sometimes it works at a tolerable speed and other times it is absolutely unusable.
Server=Windows 2003 small business server
Clients=Windows XP pro
T1 line routers=Netvanta 3200
Inventory program=Dos based Clarion language (locally written)
Is there any way to give my inventory program bandwidth priority over regular internet usage?
Im open for any ideas or suggestions!!
Thanks All

You need to set up QoS settings (Quality of Service) to prioritize the packets for your inventory program. You should be able to find out what port is being used by the inventory program using the netstat command on one of your machines running the inventory program. Try using "netstat -a -n -p tcp -b" in a command prompt and find your program. Check what port it is using and set up your QoS settings to prioritize those packets over others (such as HTTP port 80).
I don't know anything about Netvanta routers or I would give you more information. There should be a section in the router documentation for implementing QoS settings.
Hope that helps!
