We are looking at purchasing a Cisco Phone System. So we would be running Cisco call manager with Cisco phones, unity for voicemail, so all Cisco. We also need to forklift our whole network in order to support VOIP, QOS, COS all that stuff as we have a really old 3com Network. I have looked at Cisco and it will cost approx $150,000 to get a cisco network with fairly current Cisco gear. So not the brand new stuff like 3750e etc... When I do a 3Com quote we can get 3Com's latest and greatest 5500G/4500G for about $100,000.
The question I have is will a Cisco phone system work on a 3Com network? Everything tells me that Cisco is standards based so 802... for COS, QOS, POE, etc.. So it should work right? What are my pitfalls here? Do you know anyone doing this? Is there a reason I shouldn't do this? Any input is appreciated and will be rewarded on how much value I see in the comments.
Thanks in advance for your help
