Browse All TopicsI need to configure port mirroring on a Cisco Catalyst 2960 in order to gather all network traffic. this is for an executive office suite where we need to monitor traffic volume. I have a similar setup working at another location, but for some reason I'm having trouble with this one. I'm not a Cisco guy, so my use of the terminal has been nil.

Once you get logged into the switch you enter the following
Switch#
Switch#config t
Switch(config)# monitor session 1 source interface gigabitethernet0/1 both
Switch(config)# monitor session 1 destination interface gigabitethernet0/2
Where G0/1 is the port you want to mirror and G 0/2 is the port you are sending traffic to

Should be:
monitor session 1 source interface fa0/1 <--the interface you want to capture traffic on
monitor session 1 destination interface fa0/2 <--the interface you want to send the captured traffic to (the sniffer)
