The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. I want to verify whether this router might be preventing folder and file sharing

Have spent a lot of time and effort trying to figure out what is preventing folder & file sharing on my computer.  My main desktop computer, Barracuda, connects to the internet through the router, which, in turn connects directly to the cable modem.  Barracuda runs Windows XP Pro with current updates and service packs.  Simple file sharing is disabled.  Barracuda pings two other computers on this home network and they all connect OK with the interent.  They all share the printers connected to Barracuda and these printers appear under Network Places>Entire Network>Microsoft Windows Network>Workgroup>Barracuda>BrotherH on Barracuda; EpsonSty on Barracuda; Printers and Faxes on Barracuda>Brother HL-1440 series on Barracuda; Epson Stylus Photo R200 Series on Barracuda.  Other computers on the network can print to these printers.

If I wish to share a folder on Barracuda, security shows Administrators & System with full control except for taking ownership, which is for the Owner.  I add EVERYONE to the security tab & give EVERYONE full control.  The folder will appear under Barracuda>Workgroup; however, the error reads when I attempt to access the folder under workgroup:  "\\Barracuda\DESKTOP is not accessible.  You might not have permission to use this network resource.  Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.  Not enough server storage is available to process this command."

To help resolve this problem I have even made a fresh install of the OS after reformatting the partition.

The folder is accessible in this manner:  My Network Places>desktemp on Barracuda.  Under Advanced Security Settings for DESKTEMP, Everyone shows all boxes checked.

When I attempt to access desktemp from one of the other computers on the network, I can "see" the folder, but I cannot access it.  The same error code appears.  

I would be grateful for any assistance.
