The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Assistance converting from T1 based routing to VLAN based with Metro Ethernet

Asked by smontgom in Network Operations, Network Switches & Hubs, Network Design & Methodology

Hello All:
I am in the process of migrating our WAN from multiple T1 lines routed through a Cisco 3640 on the HUB site and 1720's on the remote site to a VLAN format with Time Warner Metro Ethernet.
Our core switch is a nearly  unconfigured Procurve 5308xl and our remote locations have Procurve 2650s.  I have done a smaller task in the past with Cisco but I believe I am over complicating this in my head.

My 5308xl sits on a 192.168.1.x network, default vlan, untaged.  My 2650 switches are not configured at this time.

My remote sites are subnets of:
10.1.13.x
10.1.15.x
10.1.17.x
10.1.19.x
10.1.21.x
10.1.23.x
10.1.25.x
My goal is to trunk a port for each existing subnet on my 5308 and trunk a single port on each 2650.  I then want to allow inter VLAN routing without the assistance of a router in between the connections.

I know this is a do-able thing but the solution is eluding me to the max.
Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
