The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Default Gateway Gets Dropped

Asked by RobertetInc in Network Operations, Miscellaneous Networking, Wireless Application Protocol (WAP)

Tags: Networking Gateway Internet

Currently I am experiencing a rather strange issue where internet connections are being randomly dropped. Last thursday I got a call that a user didn't have internet, but their local connections were working, (i.e. Network Shares, Lotus Notes, etc.) I went to that user's machine and did an IPCONFIG, and noticed that there was an IP Address, and a Subnet Mask, but NO default gateway, the line was blank. I proceeded to do a repair and a release/renew of the connection. Still was not getting a default gateway. Deciding that the users needed to get internet access, I manually assigned a hard ip address in the TCP/IP protocol.

On Friday I received several more complaints about no internet. And then today (Monday) another 10 users with the same complaints. I thought maybe it was spy-ware so I ran Malware-Bytes with an updated definition file. Found nothing. I thought VIRUS? So I ran the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool, and it returned nothing. OK. So then I also ran McAfee Enterprise 8.7.0i with the latest Dat definitions and it also found nothing. So it doesn't appear to be related to the client.

Has anyone seen such a thing? Or have any clue to why it would be happening? I was also getting complaints of a slow internet connection around the time of this happening -- which wouldn't surprise me.

Thanks
Steve
