The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

DHCP Server behaves unexpectedly

Hi all,
i have a DHCP server (Win 2k3) in my domain having 15 scopes defined for servicing all 15 different VLANs.Last week i observed that the scope of Host VLAN where the DHCP server is installed is having insufficent IP address configured and need to increas the number of IP address pool in that scope.i just deleted that scope and recreated with more ip address.there starts the problem.
All the VLANs are getting IP address perfectly but the host VLan where the server is installed (or i recreated) is not getting IP address.i dont know why DHCP is behaving like that.i did all the basic trouble shooting like restarting DHCP service ,restarting server etc.i m sure the IP address Pool is included in the corredt Subnet.if anybody have idea about this please give ideas..

have you tried ipconfig/release followed by ipconfig/renew on one of the affected clients.
removing and reaading scopes sometimes causes strange behavior if there are outstanding leases

can I ask why tou graded a C

05.14.2008 at 05:15AM PDT, ID: 21563237
If you see the grading guidlines you can see that a C is unfair I answered your question, you did not ask for clarification or come back with any response

thajuonline,

bradleys40 has asked (http://www.experts-exchange.com/Q_23401056.html) for an explanation of the grade you awarded for this question. Please read http://www.experts-exchange.com/help.jsp#hi73 and then respond to the request for an explanation of the grade given.

You should always give an A unless you have a good reason to grade less. For example, if you asked for more information and you didn't get it, or the expert only gave you a starting point and you still had to do most of the work yourself, then a B is acceptable.

A C grade is particularly unacceptable if the person simply posted their suggestion as a comment and is trying to start a dialog. You are not obliged to accept a comment as the answer. If an answer is unclear or seems incomplete, indicate that to the expert and give him/her a chance to clarify before giving a C. Consider that your question may not be as clear as it could be and some dialog is necessary to get the expert up to speed with your situation. Also consider that an answer such as "you can't do that" is perfectly acceptable if that is, in fact, the answer.

Another thing you might want to consider is that a lot of our top experts check an asker's grading record. If they see that that an asker grades questions with Bs or even Cs they are sometimes reluctant to offer their help. Experts receive points for their efforts and the grade determines how many points they actually receive: an A results in four times the points you offered, a B is three times, and a C is two times.

If you want to change the grade then post to this question to that effect and a Moderator will help you.

Thank you,
