Can't setup printer on a wired network

I have 2 computers and a HP Photosamart 2575 printer on a 10/100 network.

The internet comes into a DSL modem which is connected to a 5 port Dynex switch. Also connected to the switch are the 2 computers running Win XP and the printer which has an ethernet connector built-in.

Since I am using dedicated IP addresses - say 100.100.100.1 (I'll just use the last digits from here on) & on I have addressed the gateway - 1, Laptop - 3, Desktop - 4 and the printer 5. All have the same subnet mask.

When I open my browser and put in 100.100.100.5, I access the menu on the printer. Norton Internet security sees the printer as being on the network, BUT - I'm darned if I can get either computer to find the printer to put in 'Printers and Faxes'. The computers are on the same workgroup - planc and I've told Norton that's the name of the workgroup. I can'r find anywhere to tell the printer that info.

I have installed the printer drivers on both computers.
