error 66 with net use lpt2:

I replaced my print server with dlink DPR-1260, the other one quit. So far there has been no problem printing from any windows program that was an easy setup.  I ahve a couple dos oriented programs that I have been running and was able to configure the output to LP2: with
<net use lpt2: \\printserver\printer/p> in the past now I get a error 66. I have successfully pinged the IP address and the server name. It does not appear on the list with net view command or on the domain list. I had no problem before with the previos printserver  until it died. I must be doing something incorrectly but havent figured out what. Thank you for any help.. running XP proStart Free Trial
