How do I join a server to a domain using VPN.

Asked by nikkonixon in Network Management, Virtual Private Networking (VPN), Network Design & Methodology

I have been asked to join a server to our domain that is located on the other side of town.  There are 3 firewalls between the Domain controller (Server 2000) and the new server(Server 2000). At each firewall there is NAT occuring.  I control the firewalls at each end of the circuit but the one in the middle is controlled by another section (namely ICT security).  They are very reluctant to open ports on their firewall and have suggested we use VPN tunneling to make it more secure.  Is this the easiest way to achieve what we want and either way can someone provide some more details on what to do because I know little about VPN tunnelling?
