Eiminating network connectivity as a potential single point of failure

Asked by tbone106 in Network Management, Network Operations, Network Design & Methodology

Im researching a solution to eliminate network connectivity as a potential single point of failure.
We current have an MPLS network in place with AT&T which has had some recent issues. I was hoping to setup some type of multihomed connection, one to AT&T (MPLS provider)  and the other to a business class internet service provider.
Considerations:  routers and switches should be installed in such a fashion that no device controls all network access to a given host.  For example,  if  multiply internet connections are all plugged into one router, the loss of that router disconnect the internet/MPLS uplinks, despite having two outgoing connections.
Has ideas, anyone successfully have such an infrastructure in place?
