I have a small network (5-6 hosts) connected to the Internet via a T-1 routed through a security gateway appliance which also serves as a router, a DHCP server and DNS redirector. I need to implement content filtering to block inappropriate sites. While researching, I came across OpenDNS and was very impressed with the ease of configuration, the feature set, and of course, the cost. (Free!) I set the gateway to use OpenDNS for DNS resolution, and configured the content protection.
My question is: Does anyone else have experience using OpenDNS in this type of environment? If so, what are the pros and cons? Are there any security risks? (Other than being relatively easy to circumvent!) Do I need to worry about performance issues or service outages?
Thanks!
