I've been playing with this for awhile now and can't find where I can poll the hardware vars from. I am configuring our monitoring system, NerveCenter, and I have masks just fine. However, I want to create the models to use polls as the verification mechanism. Yes, I know there is an OK trap for Netscreens, but I want to poll on the off chance the OK trap gets choked and lost somewhere; therefore not clearing the alert. I found a MIB that contains the netscreenChassis OID tree. this is the netscreen.21 branch. The problem is that although this contains everything I want to poll, I can't find any model or OS version that this OID tree seems to actually exist on. We have Netscreen, SSG, and ISG with versions from 5 to 6. None of them give any results when walking the netscreenChassis branch.
If I have to, the traps may have to do. But I would really like the extra reliability of actually polling for the temperature, fan, etc. However, if you can prove that the temp, fan status, (hw vars), etc. can't be polled, I'll give points if you can tell me how much time elapses between traps being sent.
