They have permissions to install printers for example at work, so why does it say access denied when they try to install their home printer onto their laptop?

Some users have laptops to take home.
When they log on with their cached username and password at home, certain aspects such as adding a printer etc are unavailable as it requires admin rights to install !!!
All users are members of various groups at work. Would this require adding their respective groups to their laptops as local administrators in order to use them at home?
Thanks

If the user is a member of the local Administrators group, they will have control to do virtually anything they like on the local computer. It doesn't matter what groups they are members of on the domain.
I would be looking to get some sort of screenshot evidence of the printer install not actually working. Once you know the exact error messages, you can go from there. I am presuming this issue is occurring for multiple users and not just one particular user?

It isn't down to the Admin Rights their domain account is assigned on their laptop. Their group memberships and local privileges should be retained on their laptop when they log in using cached credentials away from the network.
In other words, if they have privileges to install a printer in the office (with the drivers) while on the company LAN, those rights will roam with them when they are off the LAN. The same works the other way; if you deny the user a right to do something at the domain level, that deny will still apply when the laptop is disconnected and taken away.
