The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. Slow logon with NT based clients

We have a Novell network running on 5.1.  We recently switched our network to ethernet from tokenring.  We originally thought it was a problem with our Cisco bridge that we have running until we can get all of the servers converted to ethernet, but it is not.  What happens is when a user on a machine with XP or 2K tries to logon to novell (I have tried 4.83 service pack 1 and service pack 2, happens on both) , it takes anywhere from a few seconds to about 4 minutes to get signed in.  The 4 minutes login is causing complaints.  We also originally thought this was a windows xp problem, but I found a machine that we have on tokenring that is running win2k that has the exact same problem.   These are all DHCP clients, and if you need any more info, let me know.   A seperate problem happens as well, but less frequently.  Sometimes it gives a server time out error, but if someone else tries to login it works fine.   I have also tried using the full distinguished login and that will work or restarting will work.  Help!  Thanks in advance.
