Or, your licensing objects may be corrupted, as suggested by this TID http://support.novell.com/
I ran the dsrepair as mentioned, but there were no errors.... the problem persists.
As for the the other TID, it doesn't seem to be a licensing issue as others can log on immediately after. And the username that can't log on from the laptop can log on anywhere else.
I have noticed another issue though. When users are logged on from the laptop, there are some folders that they can't see any contents in, yet if the same person logs on elsewhere the contents work fine.
I recommend removing and reinstalling the Netware client, making sure to select Custom install and IPX only, then deselect all unused options. Sometimes a bad client install will result in irritations such as you are experiencing. To uninstall select My Network Places, then Properties; selct Local Connection, then Properties, choose the Netware client then the Uninstall button.
I uninstalled the client and installed it with only ipx and nothing else and it still gives me the same error.
I then uninstalled the client and installed the client service for netware(windows version). If i attempt to connect to the server with this client, it says "incorrect password or unknown username for: \\servername\"
yet I can login with the same username and pw from a desktop sitting right next to it.
If i connect to the network from the laptop using the windows client(the one that comes with windows) and a username that always works, I can see the files that aren't there if I connect with the Novell client from the laptop.
I am at a loss...
In the application log I am getting two information
The description for Event ID (0) in Source (RoamMgr) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information of message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. The following information is part of the event: Service Started.
The description for Event ID (0) in Source (RegSrvc) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information of message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. The following information is part of the event: Service Started.
Facts:
Subject user can log into other computers on the same network and has assigned access.
When other users are logged on using the subject laptop, there are some folders that they can't see any contents in, yet if the same person logs on elsewhere the contents work fine.
Questions:
Do both laptops have the same image?
Are both laptops members of the same Workgroup or AD?
Opinion:
If it's not NDS as the details mining has uncovered, then it must be User or Workstation related. The user works fine at other workstation than what is the environmental difference?
I'd look at the following: User groups (NW, OS and/or AD), User ZENworks policies (DLU), and Workstation policies (NW, OS and/or AD.) Something just doesn't smell right with the workstation.
ZENworker
Try reinstalling the windows.

Does that laptop have the IPX protocol installed and bound to the NetWare Client?
NetWare v4.11 is about 8 years old and only uses IPX. By moving to NetWare v5.x or v6.x (latest version is v6.5) you can eliminate IPX for client-to-server communication.
