The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

NT User Printer Policy bug in ZfD3.2 Service Pack 2

Okay, I made the mistake of deploying Service Pack 2 for ZENworks for Desktops 3.2 - and now it's too late.

Before, I could create a User Policy Package and enable the NT User Printer policy, associate it to a specific eDirectory Group and *bingo* the printer drivers would be deployed.

Now, it will only work if the user:

1)  has Administrator rights to the Windows 2000 Professional workstation (running Client32 4.83 SP2)
-or-
2)  an Administrator who is associated to the User Policy Package containing the NT User Printer policy has logged on to the workstation previously.  When this happens, any user associated to that User Policy Package will see the printer but users not associated won't see the printer (which is normal).

But I don't like the fact that Restricted Users don't get the printer deployed initially without Administrator assistance.

Now, I know about the NT Computer Printer bug in the Workstation Policy Package (TID:  10083887) - and I know how to correct that.  But I need to deploy printers via the NT User Printer policy to Restricted Users on Windows 2000 Pro.

Server version is irrelevant - it happens on NetWare 4.2 SP9 and NetWare 5.1 SP4 and SP5.

Client versions are 4.83, 4.83 SP1 and 4.83 SP2 - all have same issues.  I haven't tried 4.90 because of it's problems.

Printers are Queue-based, not using NDPS.

This worked before ZfD3.2 Service Pack 2 - and now I want it to work after it.

ZENworker, ShineOn, PsiCop - you guys run into this one before?

I'll give 250 points for the "working" solution and double it to anyone who comes up with the most "eloquent" solution (hey, you could get 750 points on this one!).
