Questions about running eDirectory 8.x on Windows Server 2k3

I have some questions about running eDirectory 8.x on w2k3 server. I would like answers to my questions not reasons to NOT do it.

Scope: I am currently running nds on 3 servers at both local and remote sites connected by t1. I have about 1200 users. I am bringing in new hardware and have been looking at migrating to AD primarily for application integration. My issue is related to file permissions and, ultimately, the migration to an active directory domain.

Q1: If i install edirectory on a Windows can I migrate my users from Novell NDS 6.5 to the windows server running eDirectory?

Q2: If I can migrate users to eDirectory on Windows, can i also migrate the file shares on Novell to a windows server and preserve rights without jumping through hoops? (A simple move command or tool, or a redirected restore)

Q3: If the above is possible/successful, would it make full transition to an AD domain easier being as the files and users are already sitting on Windows servers?

Any constructive information/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
