The Solution Rating System
|
|
| With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating. - The Grade of the Solution
- The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
- The Number of Author and Expert Comments
- The Number of Experts Contributing
- The Feedback of the Community
Your Input Matters Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site. If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support. Thank you! |

Asked by Zenith63 in Novell Netware Network Software
This probably sounds like a very basic question for somebody familiar wiht Novell products, but I could urgently do with an answer.
I have zero experience with Novell Netware etc. I've taken over a site where I will be replacing the Novell OES 6.5 server with a Windows SBS server. Looking at the screen of the Novell server I have what looks like a Linux command prompt. I also have access to iManager and ConsoleOne running on a workstation here.
When I browse to \\SERVER_NAME\ from a workstation I see a number of shared folders - APPS, DATA and SYS. What I want to do is Robocopy all the files from these folders (I reckon some of them are just system files, but there is user data in each folder unfortunately) then remap the drives on the workstations to point to the folders on the SBS server. However I need some way of stopping users accessing these folders by accident later on (the OES server will be staying in place for a couple of weeks), which is very likely as some users have laptops that I don't have access to yet.
In Windows I'd just delete the shares or remove permissions to them, what do I do with an OES and how do I do it? I've gone through all the settings I can see in iManager and ConsoleOne without seeing an obvious "This folder/volume is shared as SYS".
Any help appreciated!
