NetWare hasn't needed IPX since v5.0 came out in 1998.
Unless the server admin has deliberately overridden the defaults and not configured TCP/IP, you don't need IPX. When installing Client 32, be sure to omit IPX support.
You'll need to ensure your WAN properly supports Service Location Protocol (SLP), Network Time Protocol (NTP) and DNS. Novell Core Protocol uses TCP/524.
