How can I add a nic driver to a Zenworks initrd file?

I am trying to add two nic drivers to the initrd file for Zen 7:  bcm4400 and bcm5700.  I've seen numerous mentions of this on the internet, but have not been successful yet.

I have the VMWare Player with SLES 10, Kernel 2.6.16.46 and luckily the initrd file for my Zen 7 installation is the same kernel.  So theoretically I should be able to compile the driver in my Virtual SLES installation and be done.

I am successfully getting the initrd mounted and unmounted.  The step I fail on is making the driver.  Can someone get me started on the steps to getting these two drivers built and installed into the initrd file?  This may take a few iterations of going back and forth as I've already tried many things.  Start Free Trial
