Browse All TopicsBrand new istall of Netware 6.5 SP on a new server. Installation comes to a halt (hang) just after eDirectory is installed, on the screen that says click next to continue. Logger screen gives following error in red letters: "Admin volume startup: error resolving volume name = -601"
Tree contains another 6.5 SP7 server and two 5.1 servers.

You need to delete more than just the server object...plus you need to run the health checks after your failed attempts.
Since you are advanced on the subject, I'll assume that you already did that though, right?
eDirectory needs to flush out all the garbage you're leaving behind after your failed attempts.
Have you tried installing the server to its own tree first (since it's another optional way of doing it) and ensuring the install goes perfect, then removing DS and adding DS back onto it?
Which server holds your master replica?
In addition to the server object, you'll need to remove the object for the volumes on that server. Afterward, it might not be a bad idea to go to the other 6.5 server and run DSREPAIR at the console prompt. Find and use "unattended repair", let it clean up any debris it finds. Give eDir a couple minutes to settle then try the installation again.
