Have you tried running DSREPAIR -a and then choosing Advanced Options and Check Volume Objects and Trustees? It should re-create the ADMIN_<servername> volume for you.
Hope that helps.

Browse All TopicsThe SYS volume crashed on one of our Netware servers and I had to reload the O/S. I think I have it close to functional, but I'm doing a little clean up. It is running Netware 6.5 Spack 7. I noticed the _admin volume object has a question mark next to it in Consoleone. Can someone tell me how to fix this? Should I delete it and re-import the volume into the directory? If so, how do you handle volume imports in 6.5?

I deleted the _admin volume object in consoleone, but it will not let me recreate the volume object there. It tells me I need to use iManager or NSSMU for 6.5. I do not have i Manager installed and when I try to use NSSMU I can't find where or how to do it.
I also tried running dsrepair -a and it does not recreate the -admin volume object. The volume shows up when I run the "Volumes" command from the server console.
You'll need to run NSSMU from the server console. Assuming it will run, you'll choose volumes and I think push F8 for more function keys and then F4 to update NDS (it will tell you which key(s) to use).
As I recall, you won't see the _Admin object in NSSMU but it will likely re-create it for you in eDirectory (it is already physically created on the server).

The question mark means that the object is no longer connected to the server.
AFAIK the _admin volume object isn't really necessary in edirectory.
You can add the _Admin volume to the directory with consoleone, just like any ordinary volume.
In the container where your server resides, Add a volume, point to the host server, select the _admin volume and name it SERVERNAME_NSS_ADMIN.
[Root] should be a trustee of this object, with Read rights to the properties "Host Resource Name" and "Host Server"
