Question about syncing the Iphone to Exchange via IMAP

Zones: Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP), Email Protocols, iPhone

I enabled port 993 on my firewall, set a ceritificate on my external (owa) and internal exchange servers, enabled SSL on the iphone and set port to 993. When i try to connect to retrieve mail, it says I have incorrect username and password for mail.myserver.com BUT when I enable port 143 and 993, but still have the Iphone with SSL On and port 993, it connects. Any ideas? Is that still a secure connection since SSL is enabled on phone?

As far as I know port 143 is required for it to work.
