Have you definitely specified the correct SMTP address for outbound email?
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI have a client that is using Outlook 2003 and recently his outlook crashed so his profile needed to be rebuilt. My client gets their email through a POP3 server and when I recreated his profile and tested the settings everthing went successful yet when they send email it just sits in the outbox and all email they are supposed to be getting just continues to pile up on the server. When they hit the send and receive button it just flashes but nothing happens, no error messages nothing. What could be causing this problem and how can I fix it.
Thanks

Yes, they are using the correct SMTP. When I rebuild his email box I went over to a user machine that was working correctly and used their SMTP and POP3 settings so that there were no problems. When I first opened this users email it was incorrectly configured due to it crashing and the user trying to fix the problem before I got there.

Hello tparus,
1. Register an important send/receive library file. Go to Start > Run and type regsvr32 inetcomm.dll
2. Check if antivirus email check is slowing sending and receiving. Disable it. Check if other programs running in the background is interfering. Disable one at a time the Firewall, antispyware, antispam, and all Norton programs.
3. In the account settings, Advanced settings, change the server timeout time from 1 min to 5 min
4. Check if outgoing mail server authentication is required. Select that option in account settings and use same settings as incoming server
5. Your ISP may be blocking port 25. Try using alternate port 587.
If no joy, you need to use your ISP SMTP server to send out emails.
6. Check with email provider Tech Support to determine if server is having trouble.
Hope this helps!
