Exchange 2003 mail server rejecting emails with special syntax in address

Tags: SMTP Server <mail.xxx-point.co.uk> rejected sender <prvs=1999699cce=xxx@xx.org.uk> (Error following MAIL command)
Exchange 2003 Server is blocking all e-mails from a few domains including an important client.
This applies to all e-mails containing =, - or a + sign in the from address.

Can anyone help please?
