Hi all...we've got a FE / BE Exchange 2003 Standard topology (SP2 on both servers). We are having external mail issues using the SMTP connector. If I delete the connector mail routes using the virtual SMTP service, but immediately stops when I create a new SMTP Connector. I have all my logging cranked up and am only getting error msg 7004 on the BE:
"This is an SMTP protocol error log for virtual server ID 1, connection #50. The remote host "x.x.x.x", responded to the SMTP command "xexch50" with "504 Need to authenticate first ". The full command sent was "XEXCH50 1920 2 ". This will probably cause the connection to fail."
And 7010 on the FE:
"This is an SMTP protocol log for virtual server ID 1, connection #130. The client at "x.x.x.x" sent a "rcpt" command, and the SMTP server responded with "550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for me@me.com ". The full command sent was "rcpt TO: <me@me.com>". This will probably cause the connection to fail."
One last thing to note...the SMTP connector queue is backing up on the back end server whereas the front end server does not show that queue???
Any suggestions?
