I am running Exchange 2003 on a Windows 2003 server. Yesterday I created a new account in Active Directory (complete with email account) by copying the profile of an existing user (this is what I do each time I need to create an account). It typically takes ~ 30 min. for the email account to become functional. 24 hours later, the email account is still not fully functional. All day yesterday, even hours after the account was created, anytime an email was sent to this particular account (from an account on the same domain) it would bounce back with "The email account does not exist at the organization this message was sent to. Check the email address, or contact the recipient directly to find out the correct address. <x.x.com #5.5.1>" Today, I have sent a message to the account ~1 hour ago. It has not bounced back yet, but it was not recieved by the new account either. I am having no problems sending emails from the new account, but regardless of how I generate emails to the new account (select name from GAL, respond to message sent from the account, directly type in email address) the messages are not getting through. In the E-mail Addresses tab of Active Directory properties on the new account, everything looks ok. I can see the mailbox in the System Manager as well. Yesterday evening, I created a second new account and that is behaving the same way. Any help is greatly appreciated.
