The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

GoDaddy Dedicated Server, Postfix, SMTP AUTH, Relay Access Denied
Tags: Relay access denied.
Ok...

I have a GoDaddy dedicated server running Fedora Core 7, ISPConfig, and Postfix... I keep getting a 554 Relay Access Denied error when trying to send email from a remote client.  I can send email directly from the server and I can send email from the webmail client running on the server.

Any ideas?  I have the exact same setup on another server (not godaddy hosted) and it works fine.  I have set the relayhost=k12smtpout.secureserver.net and that is the only help GoDaddy offers.

Any help is appretiated.  If you need to see a specific config, let me know and I'll post it.  Thanks!

Do you have SMTP authentication turned on?  GoDaddy requires authentication on relaying --- Using the e-mail address as the username.

Also, enable SSL for authentication

Delphineous... thanks!  Had authentication on, but, was using the username ISPConfig sets up instead of the email address for authentication... seems stupid that it was such an easy fix... I've been trying to figure this out for 2 weeks!!  Thanks again.

Delphineous... actually, that didn't work... I thought it was, but, it's not... if you have any more suggestions, let me know... thanks!

Could it be that GoDaddy wants the email address and the server wants the username?  I'm not sure... I'm pretty much a novice (ie just a web designer) so I'm a little lost.

Are you using the username (e-mail address) and the correct password for that user?

02.18.2008 at 07:52AM PST, ID: 20920848
unfortunetly, yes... I wish it were that easy...

Like I said, I have the exact same setup running on a non-GoDaddy server and it works fine... either I am missing something (on the setup) or there is something I am missing with using GoDaddy's dedicated servers and/or relay host?  Not sure...

Here is the error I am getting in the maillog... the file is there, however... any ideas?  (domain names have been changed in error code)

Try relay host k2smtpout.secureserver.net

02.18.2008 at 09:06AM PST, ID: 20921566
already have k2smtpout.secureserver.net set as the relay host on main.cf... I can give you the code in that file if you think it would help.

02.18.2008 at 09:45AM PST, ID: 20921906
Discussing with of my peers, there have been a few suggestions:
- Try using your regular GoDaddy account username and password for the k2smtpout server
- Try using one of the valid e-mail addresses and corresponding password for the domain you are sending as, through the regular SMTPOUT.secureserver.net

02.18.2008 at 02:40PM PST, ID: 20924209
still nothing...
