I am a network admin. I have a firewall NATing for my network using 2 public IPs (89.211.46.242) and 89.211.46.244. My firewall outside IP (89.211.46.242) is blacklisted for sending spam! Although my exchange server uses a different IP.
My only exchange server (which is only 3 days old and no one is using but me) is using 89.211.46.244. It is also blacklisted but the report on Mxtoolbox.com seems less severe than the IP of my firewall and stating that it is my ISP fault!
So my only 2 public IPs are blacklisted and I have no idea why. All my emails outgoing are being bounced back.
What I need to know first, is how my firewall IP could be blacklisted if it is not forwarding emails? Could someone on my network using hotmail, yahoo or Gmail cause this problem by sending spam? No one has outlook (except me) in my network and all using external email websites. I thought internet email sites have nothing to do with my network and there could be other reason for blacklisting my firewall IP (thats what I am assuming).
Second, why my exchange server IP is blacklisted although its new and when I check it showed it never been using for open relay. All emails send to are returned with 550 or 553 errors.
In any case, how can I correct these problems?
