I have just installed a second exchange 2003 server into a domain.
The 2nd server is connected via a VPN tunnel.
All AD replication is fine.
DNS & NSLookup resolve as expected.
I am able to move mail accounts between servers and manage both exchange servers from either system manager.
The problem I have is the the Default SMTP Virtual Server (OtherServer.mydomain.com)
on both exchange servers is always in a retry state. This basically means I cannot send messages internally between users in the same domain if their mailbox is stored on a different server.
There are messages queued on both servers with messages for recipients stored on the other server.
Server A
SMTP Connector for serverB.mydomain.com (retry state)
External messages go through the routing group fine.
Server B
SMTP Connector for serverA.mydomain.com (retry state)
External messages go through the routing group fine.
I have just one routing group with both servers specified in the local bridgeheads.
The Connector is setup to route to a smarthost.
If anybody has any ideas why the two servers will not communicate internal messages, I would love to hear from you.
If you need any more info on the setup, please tell me what you need.
Thanks in advance.
