Tags:Mail Server, setting up of SMTP and MX records
I am trying to set up my own mail server for my domain name but am running into problems. My mail is getting delivered to GMail and Yahoo (Spam) but many of the other providers like Hotmail are directly rejecting my email.
My configuration in short is as such: I am using the MailEnable SMTP server to send all outgoing emails. However, to receive emails, I am using Google apps and have configured my MX records to point to theirs.
I have only 1 MX record with a priority of 255 pointing to mail.mydomain.com for receiving bounced back messages. All the remaining MX records point to Google Apps with priorities between 10 - 30 (there are 6 such MX records)
My SPF record is as follows: v=spf1 ip4:69.61.78.16 ?all
What am I doing wrong? And is it possible at all to have one MX record at mail.mydomain.com and the remaining on Google while sending mail from my server SMTP server?
